About The UMBA Scholarship

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. The UMBA is delighted in your pursuit of higher education. Attached are both the eligibility requirements and application form for a limited number of scholarships offered by the UMBA to students in member churches of the Association to help meet a portion of the finical cost of college. May God’s Grace and Peace be with you.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Student must be a graduating Senior from High School or a Rising Sophomore in college.
  • Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Student must be a current and engaged member of a UMBA Church. The church must be in good financial standing.
  • Student must possess good character as seen by his/her Pastor or church leader.
  • Student must show participation in some area of community engagement.
  • ACT/SAT scores will be weighted in the case of a tie between two students.
  • Student must be a citizen of the United States of America
  • Student must complete application in its entirety.

Application Requirements

All applications must be filled out in their entirety and are due within the time designated by the Chair of the Scholarship Committee and its members.

Written essays, as part of the scholarship application should be typed, double spaced and use correct sentence structure. The title of the essay is designted by the Scholarship Committee annually. This year, your essay topic is: “How Will Achieving Your Educational Goals Make An Impact For The Greater Good in your Church and The Community in Which You Will Live?”. Your essay should be at least 100 words and no more than 250 words.

  1. Applications must be received by July 15, 2024

Submission Package By Mail

  1. Download and print the following form.
  2. Collect and mail the the following:
    • High School or College transcript.
    • Copy of College acceptance letter. (High School Seniors only)
    • Three letters of Reference (Teacher, Church Leader, Character Reference from someone other than a family member)
    • ACT/SAT Scores
    • Essay (100-250 words) – see Eligibility requirements.
  3. ALL applications must be received by July 15, 2024
