About The UMBA Scholarship
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. The United Missionary Baptist Association (UMBA) is delighted about your pursuit of higher education. UMBA offers a limited number of scholarships to students in member churches to help meet a portion of college costs. May God’s Grace and Peace be with you.
Requirements
Scholarship Eligibility
- A graduating Senior in High School or a rising Sophomore in College.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Current and engaged member of a UMBA Church in good financial standing.
- Possess good character as seen by his/her Pastor or Church Leader.
- Community engagement participation.
- A citizen of the United States of America.
Application Requirements
The application must be completed in its entirety.
The written essay must be typed, double spaced, and with correct sentence structure. The essay should be at least 100 words and no more than 250 words.
Essay Requirements: Students are asked to choose one of the following two prompts to answer:
On Servant Leadership: Describe a time you demonstrated “servant leadership” within your church or local community. How did this experience shape your understanding of Christian stewardship and your responsibility to others?
On Faith & Career: How do you plan to integrate your Christian values and beliefs into your future career field? Explain how your faith will influence your ethics, decision-making, and professional goals.
Submission Process
- The deadline for churches to submit their scholarship fees is May 30, 2026.
